My name is Valerie Kimble. I am 57 years old and a mother of 2 young men, ages 30 & 19. I was born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley but moved away for about 35 years and returned in 2016. Finding out about Clean Simple Eats has absolutely changed my life!
I have always struggled with my weight, joining Weight Watchers for the first time when I was a teenager. I was never really over-concerned with being 'big' because I was an athlete and was very active. I swam and played softball at the college level.
Like most people, I have been through a lot in my life. My first pregnancy brought on pre-eclampsia and toxemia plus a 70 lb weight gain. Then, add on a divorce and a move across the country; more weight, more stress. Jump ahead several more years; new husband, pregnancy #2. My delivery weight - 299 lbs. I was able to quickly get down to 275 lbs but mainly bounce around between 220 and 250. Then life struck again. My husband passed away 2 days before his birthday from an aortic dissection. My then 7-year-old son became the priority and I put myself on the back burner.
In 2016, my step-father passed away and I decided to move back to Utah to help my mom, she will be 89 in October. My weight at that time was 255 and I immediately rejoined WW. I was having success but then a coworker (thank you @eringorshe) introduced me to CSE in the fall of 2018. I will always be grateful to her.
My first CSE Challenge was Winter 2019 and I haven't looked back since. My starting weight for that challenge was 209. I finished the challenge around 190. I was thrilled with the weight loss but more excited about the changes I saw in my body and the change in my attitude. I was no longer dieting! I had found a sustainable way of life! I continue to meal prep every week and follow the plan fairly closely. My current weight is 155 and I went from wearing a very tight size 18 (stretchy material only) to a comfortable size 6.
I continue to remain active. I get up at 4:15 am M - F to be at the gym by 5:00. I go to 2 different facilities that I absolutely love - Pure Workout and OrangeTheory. On the weekend, I'm either out running/jogging, riding my bike, or hiking. I have become the priority in my life. I tell everyone who will actually listen to me about the CSE plan and I will always be thankful for the work Erika and JJ have done to make this plan so livable.
I workout 7 days/week. I do a combination of workouts from Pure Workout in Murray and Orangetheory once per week. I run, hike, and do virtual triathlons on the weekends.
Each season we host a free 7-week, community-based health and fitness challenge. We work hard, get our sweat on, and work together to motivate each other to reach our goals.
