10 Step "Getting Started Guide" to the Clean Simple Eats Challenge
Our Summer Meal Plan goes on sale June 6th!! But there are a few things you can do RIGHT NOW to make the most of the upcoming CSE Challenge! Make sure to purchase this season’s meal plan here to participate as soon as it becomes available. Our meal plans do sell out!
Step 1 - Calculate How Many Calories You Should Be Eating
Download our app for iPhone HERE or Android HERE to determine how many calories you should be eating based on your measurements and goals. Make sure to watch the Q&A we did HERE if you have questions about your deficits or how aggressive you should be cutting (or adding!) calories (or you can read our article about deficits HERE).

Step 2 - Grocery Shop
Each week during the 7-week challenge, you'll be cooking the same thing as thousands of others. All the entrees are interchangeable, meaning if you don't like one of the entree options, you can cook another one!
This is a “Macro-Based” meal plan, meaning EVERY recipe has a balanced macronutrient ratio of 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat. This 40/30/30 approach has been proven time and time again to offer balance and lifelong sustainability. The most beautiful thing about the CSE meal plans (minus the food itself) is the fact that you can eat like this forever! This meal plan was designed to help you AND your family gain lasting healthy habits in the kitchen and a positive relationship with food. Don’t worry too much about the science behind this meal plan, I’ve done all the hard work for you!

Step 3 - Bulk Prep Ahead of Time
We include meal prepping suggestions for you during each week of the meal plan. Follow these each week to save yourself some cooking time! Here’s a great thread in our Facebook Community about all the tips and tricks (and products!) people found most helpful to get started! The one MUST have is a good food scale, and we created one for you here!
Step 4 - Join the Clean Simple Eats Facebook Group
We have an amazing community with over 20,000 members who are so helpful! If you have questions, this is a great place to ask questions. People in this group are also helpful in finding grocery store deals ;) After you request to join, please allow up to 48 hours for our team to approve your request, as this is a private Facebook group.
Step 5 - Submit "Before" Pictures
Whether or not you're participating this season for the grand prize, we recommend submitting "BEFORE" pictures. You can submit these starting on the first day of the challenge here (or any time after that, but the sooner the better, as the grand prize for the #CSEChallenge is awarded based on overall transformation). We ask you to submit these pictures at the beginning of the challenge mostly for your accountability (it's not all about the scale!). We will not share any before pictures without your explicit permission first. You will need to save a copy of these photos to submit alongside your “AFTER” pictures at the end of the challenge (more details here).

Step 6 - Download The "My Fitness Pal App" to Track Macros (optional)
One of the huge benefits of this plan is being able to track your macros. You can read more about macros HERE. The calories you burn from your daily workouts are taken into account when you enter your activity level into our Clean Simple Eats app. Because of this, you won’t need to add in any extra exercise calories. Just follow the amount of calories the app gives you, 7 days a week and stick to the activity level that you entered into the app.
Step 7 - Follow Our Instagram Profile and Hashtag
Step 8 - Keep an Eye Out for Each Weekly Challenge (optional)
Each week of the 7-week challenge, we host a NEW weekly challenge on Instagram. These challenges will be related to all things health and fitness. We announce each new weekly challenge and the winner of the previous week’s challenge every Sunday in the Facebook group and on the @CleanSimpleEats IG page.
Step 9 - Post on Instagram Using The Weekly Prompt (optional)
If you are participating in the weekly challenges (which are optional), you must have a public Instagram profile. If you have a private Instagram account, you can easily create a new one (it's easy to switch between the 2 accounts) and you can delete your public account as soon as the challenge is over.
You are not required to participate in the weekly challenges to qualify for the grand prize, but in an event of a tie, we do look at overall participation.
Step 10 - Get Your Workouts In
Check the Facebook group or follow @CleanSimpleEatsFit for workout videos and use the workout guide in the back of your Clean Simple Eats book!
