10 Step "Getting Started Guide" to the Clean Simple Eats Challenge

After you've purchased your meal plan for this season, there are a few things you can do RIGHT NOW to make the most of your experience!

Step 1 - Calculate How Many Calories You Should Be Eating

Download our app for iPhone HERE or Android HERE to determine how many calories you should be eating based on your measurements and goals. Make sure to watch the Q&A we did HERE if you have questions about your deficits or how aggressive you should be cutting (or adding!) calories. 

Step 2 - Grocery Shop

Each week during the 6-week challenge, you'll be cooking the same thing as thousands of others. All the entrees are interchangeable, meaning if you don't like one of the entree options, you can cook another one!

This is a “Macro-Based” meal plan, meaning EVERY recipe has a balanced macronutrient ratio of 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat. This 40/30/30 approach has been proven time and time again to offer balance and lifelong sustainability. The most beautiful thing about the CSE meal plans (minus the food itself) is the fact that you can eat like this forever! This meal plan was designed to help you AND your family gain lasting healthy habits in the kitchen and a positive relationship with food. Don’t worry too much about the science behind this meal plan, I’ve done all the hard work for you!

Step 3 - Bulk Prep Ahead of Time

We include bulk prepping suggestions for you during each week of the meal plan. Follow these each week to save yourself some cooking time!

Step 4 - Join the Clean Simple Eats Facebook Group

We have an amazing community with thousands of members who are so helpful! If you have questions on substitutions or swaps, this is a great place to ask questions. People in this group are also helpful in finding grocery store deals ;) After you request to join, please allow up to 48 hours for our team to approve your request, as this is a private Facebook group.

Step 5 - Submit "Before" Pictures

Whether or not you're participating this season for the grand prize, we recommend submitting "BEFORE" your pictures. You can submit these at any time once we kick off our season's mini challenge, but the sooner the better, as grand prize for the 6-week #CSEChallenge is awarded based on overall transformation. We ask you to submit these pictures at the beginning of the challenge mostly for your accountability (it's not all about the scale!). We will not share any before pictures without your explicit permission first.

Step 6 - Download The "My Fitness Pal App" to Track Macros (optional)

One of the huge benefits of this plan is being able to track your macros. You can read more about macros HERE. The calories you burn from your workouts is taken to account when you put in your activity level in our Clean Simple Eats App, so we do not recommend eating/adding more calories to your day, just because My Fitness Pal says you've burned X calories from your workout.

Step 7 - Follow Our Instagram Profile and Hashtag

Follow our official account @CleanSimpleEats and follow the hashtag #CSEChallenge

Step 8 - Keep an Eye Out for Each Weekly Challenge (optional) 

Each week of the 6-week challenge, we host a NEW weekly challenge on Instagram. These challenges will be related to all things health and fitness. We will announce the challenge in the Facebook group and via Instagram stories (@CleanSimpleEats) at the beginning of the week along with the prize and at the end of the week the winner will be chosen. 

Step 9 - Post on Instagram Using The Weekly Prompt

If you are participating in the weekly challenges (which are optional), you must have a public Instagram profile. If you have a private Instagram account, you can easily create a new one (it's easy to switch between the 2 accounts) and you can delete your public account as soon as the challenge is over.

You are not required to participate in the weekly challenges to qualify for the grand prize, but in an event of a tie, we do look at overall participation.

Step 10 - Get Your Workouts In

Check the Facebook group for workout videos and use the workout guide in the back of your Clean Simple Eats book!
